New Sea Turtle Hoodie – Help Support Ocean Conservation Efforts!

I have always felt a deep connection with the water. I feel an almost magnetic pull whenever I’m near any body of water. Some people have said it must be in my genes. Maybe my ancestors fished or sailed or lived on the coast or an island somewhere. Whatever the reason, I have always felt most at home swimming or canoeing or just watching the waves. I remember the first time I saw the ocean, I just absolutely fell in love.

The ocean also plays an important role in our survival and in stopping global warming. Here are some of the ways the ocean helps us:

• The ocean absorbs 25% of all carbon emissions.
• Roughly 50% of oxygen produced on earth comes from the ocean, primarily from plankton.
• The ocean is a heat sink, helping to regulate the temperature on land.
• Worldwide, 15% of the animal protein we eat comes from the ocean. In some countries, this is the main source of protein for a large part of the population.
• Ecosystems like mangroves, sea grass and coral reefs protect coastal communities against floods and storms.
